Men's Basketball

2013-14 Basketball teamThe basketball program is a member of the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  The program was started by Bobby Bowman in 1991, who led the program for 20 years. Coach Bowman ended his career with 334 career wins and was inducted into the FCSAA Hall of Fame in 2009.

PHCC won its only state title in 1998 as a member NJCAA Division I program.  In 2010, the program switched to Division II status and  appeared in the regional tournament in 2011 and 2012.


Basketball Recruits Eight for New Season


Coach Micheal Jones announced that PHSC basketball has signed eight recruits for the 2014-2015 season. The recruits are:

Taylor Breck from Apopka, Fla.
Je Quan De Lugo from Orlando, Fla.
Deion Fields from Apopka, Fla.
Foday-Bai Kamara from Washington, D.C.
Carlos Perez-Clemente from Spring Hill, Fla.
Jamal Pollydore from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Shane Temara from Camillus, N.Y.
Ronnie Williams from Cicero, N.Y.

Lyals Scores 35 Points In Season Finale


Dewaine Lyals knocked down 35 points in the 103-93 loss at Florida College on Tuesday evening. The sophomore from Ocala, Florida averaged 27.5 points over the final two games of the season. Daemon Ashley scored 23 points and Brandon McWhorters added 14. The team finished the 2013-14 season at 10-19.

For the season, Brandon McWhorters led the team in scoring with 16.5 points/game followed by Dewaine Lyals (15.2) and Daemon Ashley (10.3). Lyals also led the team in rebounds averaging 9.1/game.

Georgia Highlands Defeats PHSC


Pasco-Hernando lost 82-64 at Georgia Highlands College on Friday evening . Dewaine Lyals led the team with 20 points. The team will wrap up the season at Florida College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

PHSC Wins Big Over Northwood


Pasco-Hernando defeated Northwood University JV 101-62 last night in West Palm Beach. Travis Fletcher led the scoring with 20 points and Anthony Cortright added 16. PHSC (10-16) will play Miami-Dade College today at 2 p.m.

Basketball Team Falls Short


Pasco-Hernando lost 69-66 at Santa Fe College on Tuesday evening. Brandon McWhorters led the team with 23 points. Dewaine Lyals and Travis Fletcher each had 15 points. PHSC falls to 9-16 on the season and will travel to Northwood University JV in West Palm Beach on Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.
