Pasco-Hernando Sweeps Broward
The softball team swept a doubleheader from Broward Community College 5-4 and 10-4 at the West Campus on Saturday afternoon. Samantha Wilkerson picked up her third win of the season in the first game by pitching a complete game. Noemi Chavez hit a three RBI triple and Jeri Loffler went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. PHSC put the second game away by scoring five runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth. Dana Mackiewicz scored twice and hit a double to lead the hitters. Emily Pennington won her third game of the year on the mound. The team improved to 7-17 on the season and will host Gordon State College (Ga.) on Monday at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader. Other home games this week include Macomb Community College (Mich.) on Tuesday at 2 p.m., Lincoln Land Community College of Illinois on Friday at 2 p.m., Macomb CC on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Hillsborough Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
South Florida State Game Postponed
The softball game scheduled for tomorrow at South Florida State College has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, March 13 at 5 p.m. The two teams will meet at the West Campus on March 29 at 2 p.m. Pasco-Hernando will host Broward Community College Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
Hillsborough Wins Two Over Softball Team
The softball team lost two close games to Hillsborough Community College in Plant City on Tuesday evening by the scores of 5-4 and 3-1. In the first game, HCC scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Amber Jones went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. In the second game, Keyana Solomon scored the only run for the Quistas. PHSC (5-17) will travel to South Florida State College (4-16) on Thursday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
PHSC Loses Close Game
Pasco-Hernando lost a hard fought game to Heartland Community College 4-3 in the Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia. Heartland scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The loss puts the Quistas in an elimination game against Florence-Darlington at 9 a.m. this morning. Lainee Gary went 2 for 4 with two runs and a stolen base to lead the hitters. Chelsi Lopresto drove in a run with a double. The team falls to 4-14 on the season.
PHSC Wins Big Over Florence-Darlington
Pasco-Hernando avoided elimination by defeating Florence-Darlington Technical College 10-1 in the Leadoff Classic. Samantha Wilkinson picked up the win on the mound and also went 2 for 3 with two doubles to help lead the team. Noemi Chavez also went 3 for 4 with a three-run home run. The team will play Des Moines Community College of Michigan at 1 p.m. in the consolation final of the bronze bracket.
Softball Team Loses in Consolation Final
Pasco-Hernando lost to Des Moines Community College of Iowa 13-3 in the Leadoff Classic on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Georgia. The game was the consolation final of the bronze bracket. Keyana Solomon went 2 for 3 in the game and Vanessa Mills 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs to lead the hitters. Cori Williams took the loss on the mound. PHSC went 1-5 in the tournament and fell to 5-15 on the season. The team will travel Hillsborough Community College in Plant City on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader. It's the make up game from February 13.
Softball Falls to Indian Hills
The softball team lost their last seeding game against Indian Hills (Iowa) 10-6 this morning. Samantha Wilkerson hit her first home run of the season and Chesi Lopresto went 2 for 2 with two runs scored. The team will play their opening round game of the double elimination tournament later today.
Softball Team Loses in Leadoff Classic
The softball team lost to number one ranked LSU-Eunice tonight in Columbus, Georgia by a score of 12-0. PHSC could manage only one hit in their first game. In game two, Blinn Community College of Texas defeated the Quistas 11-1. PHSC managed their only run in the third on Amber Jones' fielder choice. The team will face Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) tomorrow at 10 a.m.
PHSC Loses Doubleheader
Oakland Community College took a doubleheader from Pasco-Hernando on Monday afternoon by the scores of 11-2 and 7-3. Keyana Solomon hit a solo home run in the first game and Emily Pennington (2-4) took the loss on the mound. Noemi Chavez had a triple in game two for the Quistas big hit. Cori Williams (1-4) took the loss.
PHSC (4-10) will participate in the Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. this weekend. The opening game will be against LSU-Eunice, the top ranked team in the country for NJCAA Division II on Friday at 5 p.m.
Pasco-Hernando Sweeps Oakland
The Lady Quista softball team swept Oakland Community College in a doubleheader today at the West Campus. Amber Jones hit a three-run home run in game one and Samantha Wilkinson recorded her first victory of the season in the 4-3 win. In game two, PHSC rallied from a 6-0 deficit as Amber Jones hit another 3-run home run and Keyana Solomon drew a bases-loaded walk for the 8-7 win. Vanessa Mills recorded her first win as the team improved to 4-8 on the season.
The team will host Oakland Community College again on Monday at 2 p.m.
PHSC Falls to St. Johns River
The softball team lost a doubleheader to St. Johns River State College on Thursday in Palatka. In the first game Noemi Chavez and Chelsi Lopresto each doubled in the teams 8-6 loss. In an exciting second game, Amber Jones hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game 8-8, but St. Johns rallied to score in the bottom of the inning to win 9-8.
Pasco-Hernando (2-8) will host Oakland Community College (Michigan) on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader.
Softball Team Splits Doubleheader
Cori Williams doubled with two RBIs and Sara Hogan tripled with two RBIs to help lead Pasco-Hernando to an 8-5 win over Western University (Ontario) in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday. In the first game, Jeri Loffler went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the hitters in the 12-8 loss.
The team improved to 2-6 with the win and will travel to St. Johns River State College in Palatka on Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m.
Softball Team Loses Two

Softball Team Falls to Lake-Sumter
Pasco-Hernando lost a doubleheader to Lake-Sumter in Leesburg on Wednesday. In the first game, Jeri Loffler homered in the 9-4 loss. The team lost 3-0 in the second game shortened in the fifth inning by darkness. PHSC (1-3) will travel to Hillsborough Community College in Plant City on Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m.
Softball Splits Season Opener
The Pasco-Hernando softball team opened the 2014 season with a 5-4 loss to Georgia Military at the JUCO Classic in Clearwater on Saturday. Keyana Solomon went 2 for 3 with a run to lead the hitters. Samantha Wilkinson (0-1) took the loss despite pitching seven strong innings.
In the nightcap, PHSC defeated Florida State College of Jacksonville 4-0. Lainee Gary went 2 for 3 and Nomie Chavez tripled for the Lady Quistas. Emily Pennington (1-0) pitched a complete game for the win. The next game will be at Lake Sumter State College in Leesburg on Tuesday, February 11. Game time is 2 p.m.
Softball Opener Rained Out
The Pasco-Hernando State College softball team will have to wait another day as their season opening games in Clearwater were rained out. The team will give it another shot tomorrow when they play Georgia Military Academy (1:30 p.m.) and Florida State College of Jacksonville (5:30 p.m.). The games will be played at the Eddie Moore Complex in Clearwater.
Softball Team Opens Season at JUCO Classic
The Lady Quista softball team will open their 2014 season by playing in the annual JUCO Classic softball tournament in Clearwater, January 31-February 1.
All games will be played at the Eddie Moore softball complex located at the intersection of Drew Street and McMullen Booth Road. There is a $10 per day gate fee and coolers are prohibited.
