PHCC cross-country team

The 2014 cross country season brings forth the best recruiting class in the program’s 10-year history. With six incoming freshman with 5k personal bests between 19:30 and 20:39, the team has high hopes of cracking the top ten at the national meet.

The top recruit, from Wiregrass Ranch High School, is Elise Cedre. Elise has a personal best of 19:30 and was one of Pasco County’s best runners. Other incoming freshman include Angela Cruz from Immokalee High School who finished 34th at the 2013 FHSAA Cross Country meet. She was part of Immokalee’s 13th place finish. Also from Immokalee is Sonia Rincon who boasts a sub 20:30 personal record. Competing at the same meet were incoming freshman Crystal Burchhardt and Alyssa DeLigio who were in 14th place finishing Nature Coast Technical High School. In addition, Roxanne Caberello comes to us from Lake Region High School. She was the recent winner of the 2014 Strawberry Classic 5k and has a 5k personal best close to sub 20 minutes. These incoming freshmen, along with returnees Melody Yero, Katie Monds and Samantha Martinez, should help propel the Quistas into the top ten this year.
