This developmental reading course is a supplement to SLS 1501, College Success Skills. This course is designed to increase a student's ability to comprehend college-level, written material in a contextualized environment. The use of course modules allows for the individualization and differentiation of student learning in an instructor facilitated, self-paced environment. Conducted in a classroom/lab setting, course strategies will include one-on-one instruction, small group instruction, contextualized mini-lessons, and computer-assisted instruction of higher level reading skills and vocabulary necessary for literal and critical interpretation of college-level texts. Students must pass this supplemental class with a "Pass". Two (2) compensatory credits will be earned. This course does not apply toward a degree.
