The Seventh Annual Catch and Release Fishing Tournament presented by Skanska USA Building was held on May 10 at Catches Waterfront Grille in Port Richey. Twenty chartered boats of Foundation supporters enjoyed a full day of fishing and entertainment, while raising funds for the Pasco-Hernando Community College Foundation.
During the event, angler team members and friends of PHCC enjoyed live music, delicious food and had the opportunity to participate in a raffle of fantastic items.
Trophies were awarded for first, second and third place in combined total inches, first place for the largest in length in three species categories, and a master angler award for largest cobia. Winners in the combined total inches category included Robert Thomas, Skanska USA Building, who was awarded first place with 78.5 total inches, Amir Kazeminar, OCI Associates, was awarded second place with 73.25 total inches and Jimmy Henderson, Skanska USA Building, won the award for third place with 69 total inches.
Other top anglers included: Robert Heaney, Action Labor and Staffing, with a 26-inch Trout; Marsha LaBrie, J & J Plumbing, for her 25-inch Redfish; Chera McGuire, Skanska, for a 35.5-inch Snook and David Compton, Ripa & Associates, received the Master Angler award with a 37-inch Cobia.
The biggest prize winner was the tournament itself, netting more than $39,000 for the PHCC Foundation to benefit PHCC students, staff and faculty. The Foundation helps support student programs, instructional resources, staff development and facilities for the College.
