The Pasco-Hernando Community College District Board of Trustees recently elected a new chair and vice chair for the 2012-2013 academic year. Trustee S.K. Rao Musunuru, M.D., was elected to serve as chair, succeeding Jeanne M. Gavish, and Trustee John L. DiRienzo was elected as vice chair. Both were elected unanimously.
Dr. Musunuru is a practicing board certified cardiologist, affiliated with Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Pasco County since 1981. Over the years, he has served as chief of medicine, chief of staff, director of medical education and chair of the board of trustees for the hospital. He has been an active American Heart Association volunteer since 1979 and is a past recipient of the AHA National Chairman’s Award, National Physician of the Year, and National Volunteer Advocate of the Year Award. In 2012, he received the state of Florida Education Commissioners’ Business Recognition Award. Dr. Musunuru has served on the college’s board since April 1999 and fulfilled the role of chair twice during his membership.
Mr. DiRienzo, of Spring Hill, is an adjunct faculty member at St. Leo University. He is a retired school principal with a master’s degree in special education and additional certification in educational leadership. Mr. DiRienzo is past president of the Board of Directors for Arc of Florida and Arc Nature Coast in Hernando County. He currently is an active volunteer for Arc Nature Coast. A native of Connecticut, he has resided in Florida since 1984. Mr. DiRienzo has served on the College’s board since July 2009.
The elections were held at the board’s organizational meeting in July 2012.
