PHCC Encore Academy offers plus 50 students cost-effective route toward degree

The Encore Academy at Pasco-Hernando Community College believes that students of any age should have access to higher education and promotes the concept of lifelong learning. The Encore Academy focuses on serving adults over the age of 50. This program offers several learning opportunities, including college credit and technical credit programs, computer workshops, and personal enrichment classes.

As a membership benefit, the Encore Academy offers plus 50 students the opportunity to take up to a three-credit college or technical credit class toward completing their degree or certificate. College courses and noncredit classes may be taken at any PHCC campus. Restrictions and deadlines apply. Members may also enroll in up to 20 hours of Encore Academy workshops of their choice. Workshops include introductory computers, digital photography, creative writing, painting, and much more. Individuals 50 and over are offered several membership options in Encore Academy beginning at $99 per semester.

PHCC is part of the AACC Plus 50 Completion Initiative. This initiative is focused on encouraging and helping students 50 and over return to college to complete a degree or certificate that they started but never finished. The initiative is funded by the Lumina Foundation.
