Matt Phillips Matt Phillips signs letter of intent for Kansas Wesleyan University

Pasco-Hernando Community College student and cheer team member Matt Phillips signed a letter of intent on Thursday, November 29, to cheer with the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes, in Salina, Kansas for the 2013-14 season.

“We are thrilled to see one of our cheer team members continue cheering at a university. We could not be more proud of Matt’s accomplishments,” said Lisa Fairbanks, Head Cheer Coach.

Phillips cheered at PHCC for two seasons and assisted the team with winning the 2012 Florida State Championship. He will be captaining the 2013 competition team in a bid to defend their championship title in February.

Phillips is the first PHCC male cheer team member to sign a letter of intent.  “I am so fortunate to have this opportunity and excited to return to my home state to continue my education and cheer for the Coyotes,” said Phillips, who has chosen to major in exercise science at KWU.
