Pasco-Hernando Community College baseball players were recently named Players of the Week in Division II Men’s Baseball by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Ryan Hutson, shortstop, recording 17 RBIs and 10 runs scored in six games was named Division II Player of the Week for March 4-10. The 6’2”, 195 pound PHCC sophomore hit for a .478 average and hit an inside-the-ballpark grand slam. He is the second leading PHCC hitter with a .376 batting average, 47 hits and 33 RBIs. Hutson is a graduate of Mariner High School, Cape Coral, Fla.
Bob Peck, 6’1’’, 200 pounds, was named Division II Pitcher of the Week for March 11-17. In a 9-1 win over No. 15 Oakton CC (Ill.), the right-handed PHCC freshman struck out six batters in nine innings. In 2013, he has a 2.81 ERA in 32 innings pitched, with a 5-0 record. Peck is a graduate of Ridgewood High School, New Port Richey, Fla.
“I’m proud to have our players hard work recognized. The team’s efforts are paying off—PHCC has won 15 of its last 16 games and is currently riding a 10 game winning streak,” said Steve Winterling, PHCC Head Baseball Coach.
