State approval moves PHCC closer to offering baccalaureate degrees

Pasco-Hernando Community College received approval to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in supervision and management and a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree.

The Florida State Board of Education unanimously approved PHCC’s baccalaureate degree proposals at its June 18 meeting.  Pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Directors, the college will offer the two baccalaureate degree courses beginning fall 2014.

“We are excited to see this process moving forward,” said Burt Harres, Ph.D., Vice President of Instruction and Provost, PHCC West Campus in New Port Richey.  “If all goes as planned, the college will be able to offer the new bachelor-level programs beginning fall 2014,  allowing students an affordable avenue to obtain a bachelor’s degree—close to home.”
