PHCC awarded grant funding for emergency planning

Pasco-Hernando Community College was recently awarded a $24,980 Emergency Management/Mass Communications grant through the Florida Department of Education State Homeland Security Grant Program. 

“This grant will improve our emergency communications at the West Campus in New Port Richey,” said Randy Stovall, Ph.D., Provost of East Campus in Dade City. The other three campuses are in the emergency plan for future completion. “Grant funds will be used to purchase an emergency siren system needed to bring emergency notifications to people on campus who are not indoors. The funding will provide for acquisition and installation of equipment,” said Stovall. Also included within the project is the creation and distribution of emergency communication materials and a training program to inform college constituents about the new emergency management system, once in place.
