Pasco-Hernando Community College Human Services Club members will once again compete in The Volunteer Way’s fundraising competition, Canstruction®. The event will be held at the West Pasco Government Center in New Port Richey, 7535 Little Road. Competitor groups will erect their designs on Friday, October 18. The exhibit is open to the public Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Teams will vie for various awards, including a “People’s Choice Award.”
Last year the PHCC Canstruction® team collected over 600 cans of food. “We are hoping to increase our collection to over 1000 cans this year. All food collected from the competition will be donated to The Volunteer Way Food Bank,” said Linda Chamberlain, Psy.D., professor and coordinator of human services at PHCC. Food can collection barrels are located on the West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road in the PHCC library, Quista Cafe and classroom M-173A. The collection will continue through October 17.
