Florida College Education Foundation Supports Scholarships at PHCC

The Pasco-Hernando Community College Foundation recently received a gift of $10,585 from the Florida College System Foundation. This gift was made possible from a grant through the Helios Education Foundation. Students receiving these scholarships will be referred to as “The Helios Education Foundation First Generation Scholars.”  Students who are the first in their families to attend college are eligible for the scholarship. Preference will be given to students who are preparing for a career in education with the intent to become a teacher in the State of Florida. This installment will provide 21 scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year at Pasco-Hernando Community College.

The Florida College System Foundation, established in 1994, has contributed over $63,000 since 2007 to Pasco-Hernando Community College under this grant. The mission of the Foundation is to promote Florida’s colleges to be the nation’s leading advocate for postsecondary educational opportunity, access and student success while respecting and protecting the autonomy and local support of the individual colleges.
