Pasco-Hernando Community College’s Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery will be exhibiting photos of local foster children ready for forever families in The Heart Gallery presented by the Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco. The exhibit runs from October 3 – 31, 2013.
An opening reception, sponsored by the PHCC Student Government Association, will be held in the gallery on Thursday, October 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tiffany Faykus, Executive Director of the Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco, will present an overview of the organization at 6 p.m. Also, an adoptive parent will share an adoption journey story with guests during the presentation, and local favorite John Hughes will play the clarinet at the event.
Each year, hundreds of foster children in Pinellas and Pasco counties risk reaching adulthood without finding permanent adoptive homes. The Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco is an independent, charitable organization that provides an emotionally safe way to promote local adoptions of older children in the community. Last year, 20 children were adopted through the efforts of the Heart Gallery and 10 more children have been adopted in the first quarter of 2013.
“Organizations like PHCC that volunteer to display the Heart Gallery portraits of children are instrumental in spreading the word about the critical need for adoption in our community," said Carol Hughes, Heart Gallery Manager.
The Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery is located in the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library on the West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road.
