PHCC was one of four schools recognized by the Florida College System Chancellor Randy Hanna for innovation and excellence. PHCC received the Chancellor’s Best Practice Award for its Student Assistance Program—a partnership with BayCare Behavioral Health. PHCC is the first Florida college to form a public-private joint initiative for student counseling services. The success of the program has been evident by an increase in student persistence, graduation rates and the feelings of safety and security among students, staff and faculty as indicated by monthly and annual assessments.

The Chancellor’s Best Practice Awards give recognition to outstanding programs and provides an avenue to share proven strategies and best practices for the entire college system.
