Pasco-Hernando State College will provide free dental care to local children in celebration of the 11th year of the Give Kids A Smile® initiative. A team of local volunteer dentists, hygienists, students and graduates of PHSC’s dental program will host the annual Give Kids A Smile® event in PHSC’s state-of-the-art dental clinic located on the West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road.
Dental screenings, including exams, X-rays, cleanings and sealants are among the free services provided to eligible children on Friday, February 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Follow-up services such as fillings and extractions will be provided on Friday, February 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children are being qualified by the school nurses in Pasco County schools. Families must meet income criteria and children must be ages 6 to 17.
National Children’s Dental Health Month focuses on providing oral health education and services to all children despite their economic status during February. More than 40,000 volunteers and dental professionals are expected to provide free dental care to 350,000 children from low-income families through the Give Kids A Smile® program.
PHSC’s Give Kids A Smile® event is sponsored by the American Dental Association, West Pasco Dental Association, Pasco-Hernando Dental Hygienists Association, Pasco County Health Department and Pasco-Hernando State College, with special assistance provided by the school nurses in Pasco County.
