The Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation hosted several community leaders at the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Nature Coast Chapter’s annual National Philanthropy Day event on November 12, 2013 at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey.
PHSC Foundation nominated the Porter Family for Philanthropist of the Year in recognition of this charitable family who has demonstrated outstanding civic responsibility in many realms. The Porter Family’s ideals and principles have guided their initiatives of utilizing the power of philanthropy in order to achieve positive change for the residents of Pasco County and beyond.
The PHSC Foundation nomination for Philanthropic Small Business of the Year went to the Hernando Healthcare Foundation, Inc. This charitable organization originated to provide financial support for health care education in Hernando County. Since 2011, their support has been directed to the health programs offered at PHSC. Additional guests of Pasco-Hernando State College at the event were Rao Musunuru, M.D., PHSC District Board of Trustees and 2012 AFP Nature Coast Philanthropist of the Year; Marlene Spalten, President/CEO, Community Foundation of Tampa Bay; Kurt Conover, Director of Business Development, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point; Dave Marshall, Batson-Cook Construction, Community Leadership Committee board member, Florida Medical Clinic of Caring; and Pat Denmark, Regional Vice President, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union.
