Gov. Scott Reappoints Rao Musunuru, M.D. to PHSC Board

Rao Musunuru, M.D.Gov. Rick Scott recently announced the reappointment of Rao Musunuru, M.D., to the Pasco-Hernando State College District Board of Trustees.

Dr. Musunuru, of New Port Richey, is a practicing Pasco County board certified cardiologist, affiliated with Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Pasco County since 1981. Over the years, he has served as chief of medicine, chief of staff, and chair of the board of trustees for the center’s heart institute. He has been an active American Heart Association volunteer since 1979 and is a past recipient of the AHA National Chairman’s Award, National Physician of the Year, and National Volunteer Advocate of the Year Award.

Dr. Musunuru is a member of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and was awarded the Southern Region ACCT Trustee Leadership Award in recognition of his decade of service as a PHSC trustee at the Annual Association of Community College Trustees last October in Seattle, Washington.

Johnson, Ed.D., PHSC President.  “As a loyal trustee and donor to the college, the guidance and leadership Dr. Musunuru has provided over many years of service has had an immeasurably positive impact on PHSC.”

Dr. Musunuru was originally appointed to serve as a trustee in 1999 and has previously served three times as board chair. He is reappointed for a term beginning February 28, 2014, and ending May 31, 2017. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
