Pasco-Hernando State College freshman Danny Rodriguez (5-2) pitched the first no hitter in the 23 year history of the PHSC’s baseball program in the first game of a doubleheader against Morton College (Illinois) on Wednesday, March 26. Rodriguez (Steinbrenner High School, Lutz, Fla.) pitched seven innings striking out nine in the 13-0 win. Sophomore Robby McCabe (Ridgewood High School, New Port Richey, Fla.) led the hitters going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Derick Dious (Pasco High School, Dade City, Fla.) also went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI. Sophomore Jose Alonzo (Nature Coast High School, Spring Hill, Fla.) added a two-run homerun in the first inning.
In the second game of the day, PHSC won 18-4 as Chris Frosch (Bishop McLaughlin High School, Land O’ Lakes, Fla.) improved to 2-0 on the mound. Frosch allowed four runs; two earned on six hits and struck out four. Aderly Perez, freshman (American Heritage High School, Philadelphia, Pa.) led the hitters going 2 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Tyler Cooler, sophomore (Bishop McLaughlin High School, Lutz, Fla.) went 2 for 2 and Joel Rosario, sophomore (Commonwealth-Parkville/University of Cumberlands, Gyanabo, P.R.) also drove in three runs with bases loaded for a triple. The team improved to 15-11 on the season.
