Pasco-Hernando State College is offering two academic career themed summer camps designed for middle and early high school students (those entering seventh, eighth and ninth grades). The sessions will provide an opportunity for students to explore popular career programs offered at PHSC. Camps will be held on the PHSC West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road. Each camp will run for four half days, Monday through Thursday.
Business and Technology Careers—Campers will become entrepreneurs by creating a plan for a new business, experience the legal world by preparing and participating in a mock trial from the viewpoint of a paralegal and expand their virtual world by creating a mini version of the Internet. They will also take part in mock interviews, identify personal strengths, discover ways for blending their strengths with the professional world and create a personal résumé. Participants can choose from West Campus Session I: June 23 –26 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Session II: July 14 – 17 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camp fee is $90.
Health Careers—Campers will participate in simulations and other hands-on activities related to PHSC’s paramedic, nursing, dental and radiography programs. Everything from taking basic vital signs to capturing X-rays will be covered in the college’s state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. Campers also will become CPR certified. Participants can choose from West Campus Session I: June 16 –19 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or Session II: July 21 – July 24 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Camp fee is $100.
Each camp session is limited to the first 12 students to register. To register for any camp session, visit www.PHSC.edu/summercamp or call 727-816-3256.
