Pasco-Hernando State College’s East Campus located at 36727 Blanton Road, Dade City, is offering two new academic, career-themed summer camps for middle school students (those entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grades). The camps provide an opportunity for students to explore popular career programs offered at PHSC. Camps will run for four half days, Monday through Thursday in July.
STEaM Camp—STEaM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Reality Career Camp participants will work as part of a simulated Community Emergency Rescue Team. Campers will use the latest technology to “save” their community from aggressive invaders and, by assuming various professional roles, will discover why cooperation and training lead to success. STEaM camp is scheduled July 7 – July 10 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camp fee is $110 per student.
Fire Science Camp—Campers will experience the exciting world of emergency planning and response while interacting with firefighters, paramedics, and arson and bomb squad personnel from local and state agencies as they learn about and practice the skills used in real life emergency response situations. Participants also will gain an understanding of the preparation and training necessary for emergency personnel to successfully respond to the day-to-day challenges they encounter. Fire Science Career Camp is scheduled July 28 – July 31 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camp fee is $110 per student.
Each camp session is limited to the first 12 students to register. To register for any camp session visit www.PHSC.edu/summercamp or call 727-816-3256.
