Give Kids a Smile® Event Provides Free Services for Eligible Children

02/07/2014

PHSC will provide free dental care to local children in celebration of the 11th year of the Give Kids A Smile® initiative. A team of local volunteer dentists, hygienists, students and graduates of PHSC’s dental program will host the annual Give Kids A Smile® event in our state-of-the-art dental clinic located on the West Campus.

Dental screenings, including exams, X-rays, cleanings and sealants are among the free services provided to eligible children on Friday, February 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Follow-up services such as fillings and extractions will be provided on Friday, February 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children are being qualified by the school nurses in Pasco County schools. Families must meet income criteria and children must be ages 6 to 17.

National Children’s Dental Health Month focuses on providing oral health education and services to all children despite their economic status during February. PHSC’s Give Kids A Smile® event is sponsored by the American Dental Association, West Pasco Dental Association, Pasco-Hernando Dental Hygienists Association, Pasco County Health Department and Pasco-Hernando State College, with special assistance provided by the school nurses in Pasco County.
