Pharmacy Technician Program FAQ
Why should I take this program?
In January 2010, Florida law changed and now requires anyone who wants to work as a pharmacy technician to be licensed through the Florida Board of Pharmacy. To become licensed, an individual must complete a board approved pharmacy technician training program. In addition, this program also prepares students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam.
How do I apply to the Pharmacy Technician program?
- Submit a completed PHSC application with application fee
- Complete the required prerequisite courses
- Submit a completed Pharmacy Technician program application with limited access application fee
How will students be selected?
All students who apply for a given class will be ranked according to their prerequisite course GPA. In addition, Pasco and Hernando county residents will be given preference.
When is the deadline for me to apply to the Pharmacy Technician program?

When will I find out if I have been selected for the next class?
The selection committee will meet in mid to late July and letters should be sent out by the beginning of August.
If I am not selected this year, can I reapply for next year?
Yes, you can reapply each year if not selected.
If I am picked as an alternative but no spaces open up, does this mean I will automatically be placed in the next class?
No, you must reapply each year.
