What is the TEAS?
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a national, standardized exam that measures math, reading comprehension, English and science. It also helps to determine the student's learning style.
How long is the TEAS?
The maximum time allotted is three and one-half hours.
How do I go about taking the TEAS?
You can take the TEAS at the West Campus Testing Center or by appointment at all other campuses. Call 727-816-3381 to schedule an exam.
How much does the TEAS cost?
$50.00. This fee can be paid at any PHSC College Store. Bring your receipt to the testing center. All fees are subject to change.
Can I study for the TEAS?
A study guide is available for purchase at all campus bookstores and at www.atitesting.com.
Do I need to bring anything the day I take the TEAS?
The following are required: Photo identification or driver's license and the bookstore receipt showing the testing fee has been paid.
I did poorly on my first attempt on the TEAS. Can I retake it?
The TEAS may be taken three times per calendar year (Jan – Dec). Retakes must be at least 30 days apart.
I took the TEAS twice this calendar year. Which score will be used in determining my admission to nursing?
The test scores submitted with the application will be used.
How long can I use my score on the TEAS?
TEAS scores are valid for two years from the date of testing. Retests must be taken at least 30 days apart. Students may submit only one (1) passing TEAS test results per application. Students may take the test three (3) times in a calendar year (Jan – Dec). Fourth or subsequent attempts within the calendar year will be invalid.
I applied previously to the nursing program but was not accepted. Am I required to retake the TEAS?
Your score on the TEAS is valid for two years from the date you took the exam. If you are satisfied with your score, you do not need to retake it, as long as it falls within the two year period. Students who took the exam more than two years prior to the date of their application must retake the TEAS.
Do I have to pay to retake the TEAS?
Yes, the fee is the same each time it is attempted.
