For the 10th straight year the Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC) volleyball team qualified to play in regional playoffs. This year the Region X/District P Division II play-offs will be held at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina, on November 1-2, 2013.
The team’s current record is 23-9 with one match remaining on the regular season schedule. The Conquistadors will be the third-seeded team in the Region 10 playoffs and will play the sixth-seeded team, Lenoir Community College, at 4 p.m. Friday, November 1 in Hickory, North Carolina. The tournament will end on Saturday, November 2 with the championship game 30 minutes after the 12 p.m. semifinal match.
“We have one goal for the regional tournament and that is to qualify for the national tournament,” said Kim Whitney, Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. The team will have to win three straight matches to qualify for the national tournament. Last year, the Conquistadors were one match short of qualifying for the national tournament. “We have a team this year that is driven to accomplish their goals. They have put in the work and now it’s time to get out there and do what they have trained to do—perform at their best and accomplish their objective.”
