Computer programmers, also known as data analysts, develop, implement and maintain overall system-programming and applications software.
The most qualified applicants for programming jobs possess strong analytical skills combined with the patience and creativity needed to design complex, results-oriented programs. Many software programs are sophisticated and abstract. Effective programmers exercise superior problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Employees particularly value programmers that communicate clearly and work well within a team environment.
To prepare students for employment as computer programmer trainees and software application technicians. This program prepares students to use methods and procedures to automate business applications, utilize business software applications and incorporate the review of system and programming specifications to yield solutions to business application problems.
Industry Certification Prep
Throughout program coursework students will be taught the necessary skills to pass the following industry standard certification exams:
- Certiport IC3
- CIW Associate Design Specialist
This program can be completed in approximately 18 months if students attend classes on a full-time basis.
This program can be completed on West Campus in New Port Richey.
All courses for this degree are offered in a traditional classroom setting. More than 70 percent of the courses from this program are also offered online.
