Computer Programming Specialist—Certificate
Computer programmers, also known as data analysts, develop, implement and maintain overall system-programming and applications software.
The most qualified applicants for programming jobs possess strong analytical skills combined with the patience and creativity needed to design complex, results-oriented programs. Many software programs are sophisticated and abstract. Effective programmers exercise superior problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills. Employees particularly value programmers that communicate clearly and work well within a team environment.
To prepare students for employment as entry level computer programmers or programmer specialists or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations. The program prepares students to analyze business situations and to design and develop software solutions.
Industry Certification Prep
Throughout program coursework students will be taught the necessary skills to pass the following industry standard certification exams:
- CIW Associate Design Specialist
This program may be completed in two semesters if students attend classes on a full-time basis.
This program can be completed on West Campus in New Port Richey.
All courses for this degree are offered in a traditional classroom setting. More than 80 percent of the courses from this program are also offered online.
