Worldwide adoption of the use of information technology to benefit business operations and consumer interactions has led to the development of many e-business companies and careers that support e-business activities. Technical positions in this field include Web design and maintenance, microcomputer applications and repair, management of Internet technologies (IT) and operations of networking systems.
E-business professionals should have an understanding of business practices and principles. They must be willing to keep up with new technologies and emerging trends, be detail-oriented and able to communicate effectively.
The purpose of this program is to provide a sequence of courses that deliver coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in information technology (IT); provide technical skill proficiency, including competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, occupation-specific skills and knowledge of all aspects of IT.
This program can be completed in approximately one year if students attend classes on a full-time basis.
