Financial Para-planner―Certificate

The para-planner role in the financial planner’s office provides support and assistance. While the planner may focus on the sales side by working closely with the customers, the para-planner oversees the administrative side of the business, which may include the preparation of plans and reports, calculating figures, and compiling and entering client data. The para-planner position can advance to a career as a planner if desired.

Accuracy, good time management, ability to focus and effective communication skills are key attributes of successful financial para-planners.

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment in the financial planning industry. The program also provides necessary skills needed to advance beyond a clerical position in a financial planner’s office. The program focuses on broad transferable skills and stresses understanding of the financial planning industry.

Length

This program can be completed in one semester if students attend classes on a full-time basis.

Location

This program can be completed on the West Campus in New Port Richey.

Format

Courses and internship components are part of the program curriculum. Students will gain experience with local community agencies.
