Internet Services Technology―Associate in Science

Computer network systems are used in a majority of business organizations today. The installation and maintenance of these systems is vital for business communications and provides numerous employment opportunities within the field of Internet services. Internet service professions may include occupations such as computer specialist, web technicians, e-commerce web site support specialist, networking specialist, and network technician. Webmasters are responsible for all technical aspects of a website, including maximizing website performance, speed and ease of use.

Careers in internet services utilize knowledge and skills in computer networking, security, programming and software development, among others. These technologically oriented individuals demonstrate creative flare and possess excellent problem-solving skills. This program prepares students to work in Internet, Intranet, Extranet and enterprise environments; installing, configuring, designing and managing secure data and e-commerce resources.

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to prepare students to enter the workforce as Internet/intranet technicians, Web technicians, Internet/intranet administrators, Web administrators, Internet/intranet developers, Web site developers, webmasters, Internet support specialists, Internet managers, Web managers or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations. The content prepares individuals to work in Internet, intranet, and extranet environments; installing, configuring, designing and managing intranet and Web-based resources. 

PHSC offers several certificates that can be earned as students work toward associate in science degree goals. The Associate in Science degree in Internet Services Technology includes certifications in Web Development Specialist and Information Technology Administration.

Industry Certification Prep

Throughout program coursework students will be taught the necessary skills to prepare for the following industry standard certification exams:

  • Certiport IC3
  • Cisco CCENT
  • CIW Associate
  • CIW Associate Design Specialist
  • Comp TIA A+
  • Comp TIA Network+

Length

This program can be completed in approximately two years if students attend classes on a full-time basis.

This program can be completed on the West Campus in New Port Richey.
