Law Enforcement Officer―Technical Certificate
Police officers have the enormous responsibility of upholding the law, protecting citizens and maintaining order in the communities they serve. These courageous professionals patrol neighborhoods, highways and public gathering areas throughout their service districts. At all times, officers must be prepared to mediate arguments, control disturbances and handle routine and life-threatening calls for assistance. Building healthy relationships with citizens, thoroughly understanding community laws and carefully documenting incidents in thorough reports are inherent to the position.
Exemplary law enforcement officers are brave, honest, responsible, display sound judgment, and possess integrity and a desire to help others. These professionals must be able to relate to people with compassion and empathy. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must.
The purpose of this program is to provide job-related training at the entry level to candidates for law enforcement positions. The curriculum is prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) in accordance with Florida Statutes.
This program can be completed in less than one year if students attend classes on a full-time basis.
This program can be completed on the East Campus in Dade City.
