The PHSC Student Government Association (SGA) will host an opening reception for CUBA: The Natural Beauty, an art exhibit presented by national acclaimed nature photographer Clyde Butcher. CUBA: The Natural Beauty, transcends political boundaries and challenges us to work together to protect natural places across the globe. Butcher, often touted as the next Ansel Adams, captures epic monumental photographs of precious landscapes and peaceful sanctuaries throughout the world. The silver gelatin hand processing of each photograph hallmarks his work. “It’s important for an artist to have passion for the medium they use. But they also should have passion for what they are trying to express. Without passion, there is no heart or soul in the work," said Butcher.
Butcher will not be present for the opening reception but will be present during the book sale/signing from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., a presentation from 6 to 7 p.m., and another book signing from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on January 9 at the Performing Arts Center (Building H).
The CUBA: The Natural Beauty exhibit will be displayed from January 9 through February 22, 2019. Art exhibits are free and open to the public. The Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Fridays 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PHSC will be closed for winter break from December 13 through January 1.
