According to the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than half of young adults who misused prescription opioids got them from a friend or family member. A representative from Pasco County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) will discuss the opioid crisis in Pasco County and the resources available to help eliminate this epidemic. In celebration of National Recovery Month, attendees also will hear from guests who will share their personal stories of recovery and learn about prevention, treatment and recovery support. Students, faculty, staff, and the community are invited to attend at no cost. This event is part of a Community Awareness Series that meets a critical need for the community to better understand the availability of social services in Pasco and Hernando counties.
