Dear Colleagues and Students:

Over the past 10 days the PHSC Administrative Leadership Team and I have been working diligently to ensure a safe teaching and learning environment for our students, faculty and staff. During most of last week (Spring Break), and this week, we have been engaged hourly in conversations with local and state officials regarding the challenges that continue to surface daily relative to COVID-19.

Yesterday evening, we were informed by Governor Ron DeSantis, the Commissioner of Education, and the Chancellor of the Florida Colleges of their expectations that all Florida Colleges, including Pasco-Hernando State College, adhere to the most recent Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention recommendation to limit space occupancy to 10 individuals or less.  Consequently, this recommendation by the CDC and Governor DeSantis makes it quite challenging for a significant number of our student service offices to provide efficient services for students in an on-campus environment. As approved by the appropriate administrator, employees essential to College operations will be identified and notified by their Supervisor and/or Campus Provost so that we can continue to have a presence on all five of our campuses to perform the necessary duties for the College to operate in an online platform.  Therefore, commencing tomorrow, March 19, 2020, most PHSC College employees will perform their duties remotely under the direction of their supervisors (from home or another alternative location), and all in-person student services are suspended until further notice.

What Students Should Know:

  • All face-to-face classes previously scheduled to move online on March 23 are delayed and will now begin on March 30, 2020. Online classes will continue until the end of the semester.
  • All in-person student services are suspended at all five PHSC campuses until at least April 15th.  Student services are available online. For more information, students may contact the Information Center at 1-855-NOW-PHSC (1-855-669-7472).
  • Updates on all College activity regarding COVID-19 can be found at Please continue to monitor the College website, college emails, and social media channels for updates.

As we all know, news about COVID-19 changes constantly and we will communicate as effectively and quickly as possible. Please remain patient during these uncertain times. Students should communicate with their instructors and employees should communicate with their supervisors regarding any questions or concerns about college operations.
