Pasco-Hernando State College Hosting “Light the Field” Event
Join us for a special event on Saturday, January 22, at 6 pm. With a generous donation from our friends at Withlacooochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc. of $480,000 dollars we were able to have state-of-the-art lights installed on our baseball field at West Campus in New Port Richey enabling games and other events to take place in the evening. Athletics Director Steve Winterling says, "It was a dream of PHSC over the past 30 years to put lights on our field. WREC has made that dream come true."
The lighting ceremony will showcase these specular lights and the field. Special guest speakers include Mike Bell, PHSC Alum & Head Baseball Coach at the University of Pittsburgh, and Ira Kaufman, Pro Football Hall of Fame representative for Tampa Bay.
We also are paying a very special tribute to PHSC Athletics Director Steve Winterling who founded our athletics program by retiring his uniform and inducting him into the Bobcat Walk of Fame.
Food trucks and photo booths will also be available for this exciting event.
