Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) honored Elder Mitchell Davis Jr., Janine Lewis, and Calvin Simon with Pasco Notables awards at a Black History Month celebration held on February 20 at its East Campus in Dade City. The Pasco Notables award recognizes African-American citizens of Pasco County who have made an impact in the community or their profession.

Elder Mitchell Davis Jr. is a pastor, a current board member for Take Stock in Children, and a former PHSC board member. Janine Lewis is a child advocate and foster parent. Calvin Simon is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a 2019 Grammy Lifetime Achievement award recipient and original member of the funk band Parliament-Funkadelics.
