Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) women’s volleyball team won 12 straight sets at the District P Tournament held at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, N.C., November 3-4.
PHSC defeated Louisburg Community College, Leland, N.C., in straight sets (25-16, 25-9, 25-19) and No. 2 seed Cape Fear Community College, Wilmington, N.C., (25-22, 25-17, 25-14), to advance to the semi-finals where a win, 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-20), against Walters State Community College, Morristown, Tenn., advanced them to district championship play. PHSC again won three straight sets (25-14, 25-19, 25-23) against No. 1 seed Catawba Valley Community College, Hickory, N.C., earning the PHSC Bobcats District P Championship Title and a spot in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
PHSC standout Abby Epstein was named MVP of the tournament and teammates Sarah Asbury and Morgan Church were named to the All-Tournament team. The NJCAA DII tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 16 at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, W.V.
