Job Outlook

The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor shows employment for welders in Florida is projected to experience growth of 10 percent by the year 2023. Good job opportunities are expected for skilled welders because some employers are reporting difficulty finding qualified workers. Job prospects for welders will vary with the welder’s skill level. Welding schools report that graduates have little difficulty finding work, and many welding employers report difficulty finding properly skilled welders.

Job Potential Earnings

According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, starting salaries for welders are in the mid-twenties with typical hourly wages ranging from $13.00 and $19.00 per hour depending on skill and experience.

  • Students can apply at any time
  • This program is offered at the East Campus in Dade City only.
  • It is required that students successfully complete Welding Technology or demonstrate mastery of the outcomes in that program prior to enrollment in this program.
  • Students must pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) in order to receive a certificate at time of completion. The test must be taken at the time the student enters the program. Students who do not pass the test can enroll in the program and work on remediation activities in the Academic Success Center. Please visit PHSC Testing Services for exemptions.
