The program application is available on this web page only during the application window. Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline or outside of the application window(s) will not be considered. Any changes to application dates are published on this page.

August 2024 Admission

Applications for fall 2024 will be accepted from January 15, 2024 until 4 p.m. on March 18, 2024.

January 2025 Admission

Applications for spring 2025 will be accepted from July 8, 2024 until 4 p.m. on September 9, 2024.

Note: The application fee, online application, and all supporting documents must be submitted to complete the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition Program - LPN Application Admission Process. All items can be found in the Application Checklist below.

Applicant Requirement

All applicants must have a clear and active Florida Practical Nursing (LPN/PN) license at the time of application to be considered for this program. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

Application Checklist

  • PHSC general admission application with a $25 non-refundable fee for new students or a PHSC readmission application for returning PHSC students (no additional fee) not enrolled for more than one year.
  • Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN application. The Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN application is only available on this web page during the application cycles.
  • Payment of the separate $25 non-refundable limited access Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN application fee payable in WISE after your application has been submitted. Payment is due no later than the committee selection meeting.
  • Clear, enlarged copy of current driver’s license.
  • Clear, enlarged copy of current Florida Practical Nursing license (LPN/PN).
  • Copy of current TEAS test scores with Proficient or Higher in the ATI Academic Preparedness Category. Applicants may only submit one valid set of scores taken within the past two years of the application submission. Scores submitted with the application will be the only ones considered.
  • Submit official high school transcript with graduation date indicating receipt of a standard high school diploma or an official transcript of GED scores indicating receipt of a high school equivalency diploma, if not already submitted.
  • Submit official transcripts from each U.S. college and university attended other than PHSC.
  • Submit official scores from external agencies, if applicable, for prerequisite courses (i.e., AP, CLEP, IB, etc.).
  • Confirmation that any needed course substitutions or credit shortages have been approved by the application deadline date.
  • Transfer Credits: If the course prefix and number of an evaluated transfer course is not equivalent to PHSC’s course prefix and number (for example, transfer course does not indicate BSC1085), then you will have to meet with an advisor to complete a course substitution.
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • Complete the following prerequisite courses with a combined GPA of 2.5 or higher with at least a grade of “C” or higher (must be complete prior to applying for the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN program):

  • The Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN program is generally offered at the West Campus in New Port Richey, Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel or the East Campus in Dade City for program starting in January and the West Campus in New Port Richey, Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel or the North Campus in Brooksville for program starting in August; however, the locations are subject to change.Bottom of Form

Job Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the U.S. Department of Labor, overall job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be excellent, growing by 26% from 2010 to 2020, but may vary by employment type and geographic setting. Some employers report difficulty in attracting and retaining an adequate number of RNs. Employment of RNs is expected to grow much faster than the average.

Job Potential Earnings

According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, salaries for registered nurses start at approximately $23 per hour. Typical salaries for RNs are about $32 hourly.

Special Notice

  • Students entering this program should have basic computer skills
  • Applicants who meet minimum requirements as of the deadline dates will be ranked based upon prerequisite GPA and TEAS scores
  • In Fall, the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN limited access program admits up to: 
        24 students on the North Campus, and 
        36 students on the West Campus.
        Note: on odd years, only 12 students are admitted on the West Campus. 
  • In Spring, the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN program admits 24 students on the Porter Campus.
  • LPNs will receive 17 advanced college credit semester hours based on practical nursing education.
  • Clinical agencies require the student to submit a negative criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate receives an Associate in Science in nursing degree and is eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in accordance with the regulations set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Chapter 464.008 and 464.018, and to transfer to a Florida state college or university.
