Peace Week

About

What is Peace Week?

Each year we pause to recognize that peace is not simply the absence of war, but a constantly changing and fragile ideology that can be threatened if people are not given the opportunity to express themselves and connect with one another. Despite worldwide volatility and political pressures, we must in our increasingly diverse and technologically advanced society, constantly seek understanding and global perspective.

During the College's Peace Week, through the attendance of a variety of diverse celebrations and presentations, students are motivated to engage in reflection, solve complex interrelationship issues and gain an understanding of the self, along with learning acceptance of others.

Why talk about peace now?

Why talk about peace in the midst of a pandemic, political upheaval, social justice dilemmas and climate crisis?

We have spent more time alone, and our immediate world has changed. Peace Week will challenge you to take note of how you are currently viewing the world, and open your mind to ways you could explore looking at it differently.

If we are successful, we will see that there is a future that is possible that we did not conceive could exist before attending the scheduled events of PHSC's Annual Peace Week.
