Prayer and Meditation; Mandala Building
- Virtual on Zoom and in person on West Campus in the Library, LobbyBuddhist monks will create a sand mandala, a circular mural created from colored sand. The design takes days to complete as small tubes, funnels and scrapers are used to carefully place the sand. Upon completion, the sand mandala will be displayed for a short period of time before a dissolution ceremony is held to signify spreading kindness and compassion into the world and the impermanence of people and the world around us.

-From a global pandemic to an expanding mental health crisis and a war in Europe, the dramatic developments of recent years have led to a growing uncertainty in the future of our shared world. Yet, uncertainty poses a unique opportunity for transformation and renewal. How does one embrace change with courage and compassion? In this talk, Dr. Contessa will share insights from contemporary science and ancient wisdom traditions on how to transform change into an opportunity for renewal, and rediscover the inner peace that is our basic human heritage.

How To Face What (or Who) Scares You: A Conversation on Bias
- Virtual on ZoomThough connected more than ever, we all still have unconscious biases that affect how we perceive or interact with others. These biases create barriers to developing true connection with others. In this session, Dr. Leslie will have an honest but candid discussion around the unconscious biases and prejudices we hold against others and that the solution lies in boldly owning our stories and moving closer to the things (and people) that scare us. This keynote is great for addressing diversity and inclusion and social justice issues on campus, as well as peer relationships within campus organizations. This talk can also be adapted into a workshop format.

They will get a piece of paper to draw ideas of what brings them inner peace (they can skip this part if they want). Then they can paint that object/idea on a rock.

People who re-offend have never emptied their emotional bucket. Society continues to reject them, causing their bucket to stay full. Eventually, they will make a poor choice that could lead them to re-offend. You are students now, but one day you will be employers and family members of ex-offenders. We must give them an opportunity to be welcomed back and have a real opportunity to support themselves and their families. We must treat them like human beings who deserve love and compassion. Let's help them Discover their Inner Peace.
