• Why

We all deserve to feel confident and happy to smile, however, a healthy smile doesn’t happen overnight.

Our local community is facing a challenge to provide dental health and oral hygiene to our neighbors. There is limited access to affordable dental health care and while the number of dental health providers has grown, there is still a shortage of dental hygienists and assistants.

  • How

Our students get hands-on, experiential learning in and out of the classroom.

The PHSC dental clinic is open to the public to provide local access to dental health care at little to no cost for the patient. When they aren’t in the classroom our students are spending time out in the local community presenting health seminars -- bringing their talent and knowledge to your doorstep.

  • What

    Transformational Education.

Pasco-Hernando State College offers transformational educational credentials with an Associate in Science in dental hygiene and a dental assisting certificate program. Upon completion, these programs offer students the opportunity to enter the workforce with good salaried and benefited positions as dental hygienists and assistants.

Smiling is Contagious

“When the College decided to start a Foundation in 1964, we had a working relationship with the College and saw the workforce need for dental hygienists and community need for preventative dental health. We were able to raise the funds to get the dental hygiene program started at PHSC. This was a result of a three-way cooperation between the College, the dental community, and the Foundation” - Niles Kinnunen, DDS.

Experiential Learning

“Our students become wonderful educators through their time in the program. They not only provide preventative education and services for patients but more importantly, they teach people how to take care of themselves.” - Donna Low
