The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) at Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) provides an alternative route to Florida teacher certification. PHSC was recently given full approval from the Florida Department of Education to add the Reading Endorsement to the EPI program. Those that complete the EPI program may also have the option to complete coursework to receive their reading endorsement. The EPI program is perfect for people who already hold a temporary teaching certificate, someone with a bachelor's and/or master's degree and the academic knowledge to teach in a specific area or want a career change.

The EPI program is 100% online with a field experience component and students can be certified within one year. This is an exciting opportunity to begin working toward a new career to become certified in teaching in Florida. The next cohort begins on May 9, 2022. The application deadline is April 24, 2022.

"Florida continues to experience a heightened teacher shortage which requires highly qualified educators to support the children of our region. Our PHSC EPI Program provides the fundamental and practical certification-based training that addresses this critical need," said Stanley M. Giannet, Ph.D., PHSC executive vice president, chief academic officer, and College Provost.
