Pasco-Hernando State College will host a grand reveal of the newly renovated Welding Lab on Friday, February 14, at 9 a.m. The event will be held at PHSCs East Campus, 36727 Blanton Road, Dade City, Fla. 33523. The ribbon cutting will showcase demonstrations of the Computer Numerical Control Plasma Table, as well as have a welding simulator set up for attendees to try out.
PHSC’s welding program prepares students for careers in the growing field of manufacturing. The newly renovated center is designed to address the ever-increasing demand for skilled welders and provides a safer and more modern learning environment. The center includes upgrades such as brand new welding booths built by the students and instructors, increasing the available booths for students from 16 to 24. The renovation also includes all new Miller welding machines with accompanying ventilation systems as well as a brand new Miller Welding Simulator all provided by Matheson Gas.
“With the new Miller snorkel ventilation system, the fume extraction is superb in keeping harmful fumes from our students and instructors. It is incredibly quiet, aiding us in the ability to broadcast information clearly during welding lessons while being in the lab,” said Scott Flannery, Instructor and Coordinator for PHSC’s Welding Program.
