In October, PHSC athletics students volunteered over 150 hours to help a struggling family in need move houses.
Volleyball
Throughout October, the PHSC Women’s Volleyball Team experienced a month of highs and lows as they closed out their 2025–26 season. The Bobcats began the month with back-to-back losses to Gulf Coast State and Pensacola State before rebounding with a 3-0 sweep over FSCJ on October 10. Despite a shutout loss to St. John’s River State the following day, PHSC regained momentum mid-month with consecutive victories against St. Petersburg College and State College of Florida, climbing to seventh in the Sun-Lakes Conference and keeping playoff hopes alive. However, late losses to Indian River State and Palm Beach State ended those chances, though the team capped its season with a strong 3-0 win over State College of Florida on October 25. The Bobcats finished the year 10-17 overall and 8-12 in conference play, closing out a resilient campaign marked by steady improvement and determination.
Soccer
The Women’s Soccer Team had a busy October, closing out the regular season with a mix of strong performances and tough matchups. The Bobcats opened the month with a commanding 3-0 win over New College of Florida before splitting results against St. Leo University JV and USC Lancaster, followed by another split series against Pensacola State College. They continued their streak of competitive play with a scoreless draw against St. Leo JV, marking their fourth tie of the season. PHSC ended on a high note, dominating Florida College 7-0 in their final match, highlighted by multi-goal efforts from Ali Goines and Ashlynn Knighten. The team concluded the regular season with a 5-6-4 overall record, showcasing resilience and growth throughout the month.
Women's and Men's Cross Country
Throughout October, the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams performed spectacularly. At the FGC Invitational on October 10, the men captured the team title with four runners: Malik Millet, Brady Pavlica, Zachary Townsend, and Dylan Powell, all finishing in the top ten. Meanwhile the women placed third among JUCO colleges, led by top-ten finishes from Isabella Quinlan and Kammy Enerson. Both teams carried that momentum into the NJCAA/FCSAA Region 8 Championships in Tallahassee, where the men earned runners-up honors and the women again placed two athletes in the top ten. Capping off the month, the teams hosted the 2025 Bobcat 5K & 1 Mile Trot on November 2, drawing over 170 participants, with Millet and Claudia Cancello claiming the overall titles in one of the event’s fastest races in its 20-year history.
Baseball
PHSC's men's baseball team had a standout presence at the FCSAA All-Star Game in Lakeland, Florida, with several players earning recognition, including Nick Koorse, Juan Lopez (FCSAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player), Isaac Palacios, Gavin Zassenbraker (NJCAA All-Tournament Team), Braden Durfee (NJCAA DII World Series MVP), Racco DeMarinis, and Nick Cucchi. Zassenbraker notably started for the Sun-Lakes Conference, delivering a perfect 1-2-3 inning. Additionally, Bradon Durfee, the 2024-25 NJCAA DII World Series MVP, has committed to the University of Kansas, marking a significant step in his athletic career. PHSC Athletics extends its congratulations and best wishes to Durfee as he continues his journey at the collegiate level.
