The Pasco-Hernando State College Foundation recently received a $35,000 grant from the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The funding will provide scholarship support to PHSC students beginning over the summer term and continuing throughout the upcoming academic year. Preference will be given to part-time students who may not qualify for other financial aid, as well as students who are parents. To apply, the PHSC Foundation scholarship application can be accessed at foundation.phsc.edu/scholarships/apply. Since 2011, this fund has provided nearly 1,000 scholarships to PHSC students, totaling $705,000 in financial assistance.

Raised by a single mother, Roberts experienced firsthand the effort and perseverance needed to achieve his goals. His success afforded him the ability to become a generous lifelong donor to PHSC. He relocated to Sarasota and upon his death in 2009, established the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund of the Community Foundation. Through his enduring legacy, generations of PHSC students continue to receive the financial assistance needed to pursue their education and build brighter futures.
