The program application is available on this web page only during the application window. Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline or outside of the application window(s) will not be considered. Any changes to application dates are published on this page.
August 2025 Admission
Applications for fall 2025 will be accepted from January 20, 2025 until 4 p.m. on March 17, 2025. Official transcripts from your high school/GED and all regionally accredited colleges attended, and all other checklist requirements, must be submitted by March 31, 2025, to complete the Application Admission Process. All items can be found in the Application Checklist below.
Applicant Requirement
All applicants must have a clear and active Florida Practical Nursing (LPN/PN) license at the time of application to be considered for this program. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
Application Checklist
Each item in the checklist must be completed to be considered as a Nursing (RN) ADN Transition – LPN Program Applicant. Incomplete or partial applications are not considered for admission.
- Apply to the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition – LPN program at PHSC via the Bobcat Application Portal during the published application window. Pay the $25 non-refundable general admission fee for new students.
- Complete the residency requirements (as needed) for new or returning students for general admission and submit any other documents required to complete your general application.
- Pay the separate $25 non-refundable limited access Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN application fee once assessed in the Bobcat Application Portal.
Upload into the Application Portal
- Clear, enlarged copy of current driver’s license.
- Clear, enlarged copy of current Florida Practical Nursing license (LPN/PN).
- Copy of current TEAS test scores with Proficient or Higher in the ATI Academic Preparedness Category. Applicants may only submit one valid set of scores taken within the past two years of the application submission. Scores submitted with the application will be the only ones considered.
Order your official transcripts to be sent to PHSC
- Submit official high school transcript with graduation date indicating receipt of a standard high school diploma or an official transcript of GED scores indicating receipt of a high school equivalency diploma, if not already submitted.
- Submit official transcripts from each U.S. college and university attended other than PHSC.
- Submit official test score reports from external agencies, if applicable, for prerequisite courses (i.e., AP, CLEP, IB, etc.).
Please note: Transcripts are due at the time of application for this program.
Additional Requirements
- Confirm that any needed course substitutions or credit shortages have been approved by the application deadline date.
- Transfer credits: If the course prefix and number of an evaluated transfer course is not equivalent to PHSC’s course prefix and number (for example, transfer course does not indicate BSC1085 3cr), then you will have to meet with an advisor to complete a course substitution and/or credit shortage.
- A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
- Complete the following prerequisite courses with a combined GPA of 2.5 or higher with at least a grade of “C” or higher (must be complete prior to applying for the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN program):
- BSC 1085, Human Anatomy & Physiology I (3 credits)
- BSC 1085L, Human Anatomy & Physiology I Lab (1 credit)
- BSC 1086, Human Anatomy & Physiology II (3 credits)
- BSC 1086L, Human Anatomy & Physiology II Lab (1 credit)
- MAC 1105, College Algebra (3 credits)
- MCB 2010, Microbiology (3 credits)
- MCB 2010L, Microbiology Lab (1 credit)
- PSY 1012, Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)
- HUN 2201, Science of Human Nutrition (3 credits)
The Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN program is generally offered at the West Campus in New Port Richey, Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel or the East Campus in Dade City for program starting in January and the West Campus in New Port Richey, Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel or the North Campus in Brooksville for program starting in August; however, the locations are subject to change.

Job Outlook
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the U.S. Department of Labor, overall job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be excellent, growing by 26% from 2010 to 2020, but may vary by employment type and geographic setting. Some employers report difficulty in attracting and retaining an adequate number of RNs. Employment of RNs is expected to grow much faster than the average.
Job Potential Earnings
According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, salaries for registered nurses start at approximately $23 per hour. Typical salaries for RNs are about $32 hourly.
Special Notice
- Students entering this program should have basic computer skills
- Applicants who meet minimum requirements as of the deadline dates will be ranked based upon prerequisite GPA and TEAS scores
- In Fall, the Nursing (RN) ADN Transition - LPN limited access program admits up to:
24 students on the North Campus, and
36 students on the West Campus. - LPNs will receive 17 advanced college credit semester hours based on practical nursing education.
- Clinical agencies require the student to submit a negative criminal background check and drug screening.
- Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate receives an Associate in Science in nursing degree and is eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in accordance with the regulations set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Chapter 464.008 and 464.018, and to transfer to a Florida state college or university.
