May 2025 Admission

The Dental Assisting (PSVC-DA) program admits students once a year in May. Applications are accepted year-round. Applicants who meet the criteria are admitted for the next available start term. This program is only offered at the West Campus in New Port Richey.

Application Checklist

Each item in the checklist must be completed to be considered as a Dental Assisting Program Applicant. Incomplete or partial applications are not considered for admission.

  • Apply to the Dental Assisting program at PHSC via the Bobcat Application Portal during the published application window. For new students, please pay the PHSC $25 non-refundable general admission fee.
  • Complete the residency requirements (as needed) for new or returning students for general admission and submit any other documents required to complete your general application.
  • Pay the separate $25 non-refundable limited access Dental Assisting application fee once assessed in the Bobcat Application Portal.

  • Clear, enlarged copy of current driver’s license.

Order your official transcripts to be sent to PHSC

  • Submit official high school transcript with graduation date indicating receipt of a standard high school diploma or an official transcript of GED scores indicating receipt of a high school equivalency diploma, if not already submitted.
  • Submit official transcripts from each U.S. College and university attended other than PHSC.
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Job Outlook

The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor projects employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 22% from 2018 to 2026.

Job Potential Earnings

According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Labor Market Statistics, the median salary for Dental Assistants is approximately $18.60 per hour.

Special Notice

  • This is a limited access program with 18 seats available per year with a new class starting every May.
  • Graduates of this program meet EFDA and radiography qualifications for the State of Florida.
  • This program is only offered at the West campus in New Port Richey.
  • CPR certification, PHSC Course NCH 0050, American Heart Association "Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers" is a requirement of this program. 
    • In order to receive a certificate, students must obtain satisfactory scores on the Test of Adult Basic Education (Form 9 or 10) with a minimum grade of 10th grade in reading, language and mathematics or an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university will satisfy the TABE requirements.
  • A physical examination certifying satisfactory health is required.
  • Clinical agencies require the student to submit a criminal background check.
