Pasco-Hernando State College will host Spring commencement and nurse pinning ceremonies on May. 1-2 at its West Campus located at 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, Fla.
Jesse Pisors, Ed.D., PHSC president, will be presiding over the commencement ceremonies for the first time since his tenure with the institution started early this year.
“There is nothing more joyful and inspiring in higher education than watching students celebrate the completion of their degrees at a commencement ceremony. This will be my first commencement as PHSC’s president, and it is a true honor to join our faculty and staff in celebration of our students’ accomplishments. Whether their plan is to continue their education or join the workforce, I know they will be among the best prepared of their peers. We look forward to all they will accomplish and the contributions they will make as PHSC alumni.” said Pisors."
Commencement is a widely observed tradition among educational institutions and an important part of a student’s journey.
These ceremonies are dedicated to honoring and recognizing students who earned certificates and diplomas in varying fields of study as well as those that earned an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
The Nurse Pinning ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the first commencement ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m. The final spring commencement ceremony will occur Thursday at 10 a.m. All ceremonies will be live-streamed on YouTube.
The ceremonies will host several speakers including trustees, faculty members, students and alumni.
More than 60,000 alumni have received degrees and certificates from PHSC to date.
