Carin Hetzler-Nettles

Cypress Creek High School, Principal

Carin Hetzler-Nettles is proud to be a product of the Pasco County School system, graduating from Land O’ Lakes High School in 1992. She began her college career at Mercer University, where she played Volleyball on a scholarship for two years. She then transferred to USF to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree to teach students with special needs. Hetzler-Nettles started as a teacher of students with special needs in Pasco County in 1996 at River Ridge Middle School. She earned certification in Educational Leadership and became an Assistant Principal in 2004 at J.W. Mitchell High School.

Hetzler-Nettles entered into the Preparing New Principals Program within Pasco County and was appointed the Principal of Wesley Chapel High School in 2009. She turned Wesley Chapel High School around from earning a D in the state accountability system to earning an A, and led that school as Principal for eight years. She was next appointed the privilege of opening Cypress Creek Middle High School, a combination middle/high school, built in 2017, as the Principal. With the opening of Cypress Creek Middle School, Hetzler-Nettles is now the Principal of Cypress Creek High School. During her tenure as a Principal she excels at mentoring and developing new school leaders and she has presented at the annual FASA (Florida Association of School Administrators) conference. Carin Hetzler-Nettles was named Principal of the Year for Pasco County Schools in 2012 and 2019.
